Gokul read law at the University of Adelaide and subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice as a precursor to being appointed as an Officer of the Supreme Court of Victoria in Australia. Throughout law school, Gokul had an affinity for evidence, administrative and constitutional law.
He maintains a practice focused on employment, public and administrative law and commercial litigation.
Gokul’s employment practice encompasses advising employers and employees alike as well as trade unions on issues relating to dismissal, probationers, retrenchment, immigration and union related issues. In the course of his practice, Gokul has appeared as junior counsel at all tiers of the Malaysian courts.
Gokul is passionate about human rights advocacy and has a desire to be the voice for indigenous, minority and refugee communities. He has represented them in land disputes, negligence claims and immigration related issues. Gokul has also taken part in public inquiries held by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia, SUHAKAM in respect of such violations.
As a senior associate in the Firm, Gokul prides himself on his ability to foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients and is always willing to go the extra mile to advocate their rights.
Gokul is a member of the Malaysian Bar's Human Rights Committee and Task Force on IPCMC and Police Accountability.
